Advertising Photography: A Trick Too Tough To Please
Advertising photography can be quite a tricky thing, particularly if its a new product or service that you are dealing with. You really have to know what should work and more importantly, what should not. Even with the most detailed brief you need to do a lot of home work before you get down to clicking pictures. Will a shot taken from this angle work? Is the lighting OK? Will it give the right mat or shimmer effect that is needed? How much shimmer is required? What medium is the ad going to appear in? These are some questions that any professional should get answers to before starting off.
Then a photographer should give considerable thought to the most important of the various elements of advertising photography – the target group. The target audience is the prime and the focal point of all kinds of advertising photography. If there is no audience, it is not advertising photography. The theme of the campaign is build around them. And therefore the photograph taken for the pictures should also speak the language that they will understand.
